A DAY OF HANDS-ON TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS
(9th, 10th, & 11th grade students)

Friday, May 3, 2024 at RCBC

Teentech is a one-day event designed to demonstrate that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and careers are exciting, relevant, and accessible to girls and women. Teentech participants engage in laboratory, engineering, and math workshops presented at a host college/university, giving them confidence-building experiences in a real college setting. The event is run on a school day as an approved school field trip from each attending district. The educators who accompany the girls participate in their own hands-on workshop in the morning and a panel discussion session in the afternoon.

Teentech has been a project of the American Association of University Women of New Jersey (AAUW NJ), held in collaboration with a host college/university, for nearly 20 years. Key partners that lend their expertise to Teentech are: The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), NJ Technology and Engineering Educators Assn., and the NJ School Counselors Association. Each year members volunteer at the Teentechs that are conducted throughout the state. In 2019 the branch hosted a program at RCBC.

Thanks to everyone that participated!

On Friday May 3rd, the RCBC campus was guest to 70 young women that were introduced to different hands on activities in STEM. The event was cosponsored by the Medford Chapter of AAUW and the RCBC STEM Division. The students were from seven Burlington and Camden area High Schools. They enjoyed STEM activities that included academic areas of biology, biometry, computer science, geospatial technology and electrical engineering technology put on by the respective faculty. The technology educators accompanying the students were introduced to the degrees and uniqueness that STEM has to offer at RCBC. Each young woman was able to experience two workshops, learn more about RCBC, experience our beautiful campus, and hangout with Barry.
